Thetemple was build by sri kahulunan, the daughter of Samaratungga descendant of Sailendra Dynasty, and who was married to Rakai Pikatan in the Hindu tradition. Plaosan temple is one of the temples which have a history of romance, born from the differences of belief and ideology of a Hindu king ( Rakai Pikatan) and queen of Buddha ( Pramudyawardani ) .
